1954 Packard Pacific numbers help please.....

Hello to all, I had mentioned in the General Forum about a 54 Pacific that was for sale on craigslist in Fort Worth, Texas. I went and looked the car over and wrote down all the numbers I could find. So, with that being said, here are the numbers.....engine number is L317988, which tells me that it was for a 53 Clipper. Must have been replaced at some point. Paint (which was taken off the right hand side of the glove box) is XG. This is confusing because I could not find an XG in the cross reference charts. Trim number is 327. I couldn't find that anywhere. Because it is a Pacific 5477-2802......I bought the car and brought it home tonight. Now the fun begins. My goal is to do a complete restoration of this rare Packard. Any and all advice, comments, concerns, responses will be greatly appreciated.

Congratulations on your new "ride". Beautiful cars and one of my favorites when all done up nicely -- but you do have some work in front of you. Between your 54, my 47 and a couple of others people have started, I think we need help. Maybe we can get a group rate at the head shrinker.

Hotrod,

Glad you got it!

I did not go and look at it, just had pictures sent to me. I was afraid I might have made a bid on it. Packard it's a hell of a drug!

I look forward to seeing it brought back. I can think of 2 maybe 3 in the north Texas area.

The seller said it was standard shift, is that correct?

If not, is the car an Ultramatic, or Gearstart Ultramatic?
