I have two factory holes (arrows) in the firewall, lower one appears to have never had a screw in it. Looking at a few photos, I see the looms use the top hole for a clamp. What appears to be a restored car also has a clamp at the bottom hole but that is not evident on firewall photos of other cars.

My question: was there ever any kind of option that used that space? I'm thinking of routing my kill switch pull cable in the area to get to the emerg brake cable grommet. Don't want to do something now that precludes easily installing something else in the space if the opportunity arises.

Just a guess, but maybe Hydro-electric pump unit for cars so equipped?

I just wired a 41 Clipper and it had loom clamps at both locations.

Here is a photo of a 22nd Series Custom 8 with R9 overdrive that shows the wiring harness and clamps mentioned by Ross.

Thanks for confirmation of two clamps. Appears the space was never used for anything Packard supplied. I re-routed my pull cable under the battery box and closer to emerg brake just in case something comes up that would look good down there.
