I might have a spare one if it's the same switch used in the 10th and 11th series - can you look up a part number for me?

Dave,
The part number for the 1929 "Backing light switch assembly" is 157700 , the parts book lists the same number for the 626-633 and 640-645 models. I do not have a parts book for the later models to check for interchange. The switch has a bayonet fitting into a socket at the end of the selector shaft. I bought a couple of these pre-internet at Hershey, they were new reproductions. I used them both in my cars and now a friend is looking for one for a 640

Dave, thanks for providing the number, but it doesn't correspond to the switch that I have. Best of luck finding one, and sorry I couldn't help.

Dave, Thanks for looking. Might have to improvise , Packardbarry's starter switch solution is interesting. There is always a way.
