No, it was 1955, although 1955 was 12 volt it was still positive ground. 1956 went to 12 volt negative ground.

That's what happens when shooting from the hip about a model year I am only vaguely familiar with. I should have looked it up first. Sorry and thanks for the correction Dave!|
