I saw this ad for a 1947 Packard motorhome on the Tin Can Tourist web site and thought it might be of interest.

The only thing I recognize as packard are the hubcaps and the engine color. It looks like it needs a lot of work. It a little overprized inmy opinion.

I recognize a steering wheel and gear shift lever and knob.

Kind of interesting but I'm amazed at the absolutely flat front end. That must have really cut down on the speed and gas mileage. Would have thought a boat builder would be more into aerodynamics. The drivers position so far back and having to look thru the smallish rectangle several feet away for forward visibility makes you hope nothing low sneaks in front of you. Of course, I guess that part is not too much worse than a long high hood.

Wasn't the 288 engine introduced in 1948?

The 288 was introduced with the 22nd series which began production in April, 1947.

It's really quite the poor design. One would have to think that the builder either had the Packard sitting around or it was free, so he decided to turn it into a motorhome on a whim.
