Thanks Roger. It should be an adventure. I just got a call from Maverick today and they have a spot open for next week's training, so it looks like I'll be leaving for Little Rock on Saturday. I just hope the weather is better than it was this past weekend.

This will probably be the final entry in my restoration blog. I was hoping to do a bunch of before and after shots, but I just don't have enough free time till I have to leave. Instead I'll post a few full size shots that can be blown up nice and big. I do have a couple final queries that I'll post in the post-war section if I have time.

I'll continue to check in on the site to see what's going on, and probably add a comment here and there as time allows. Driving a truck is a 12-14 hour a day job, so you don't end up with a whole lot of time for personal stuff.

Hopefully, I'll be back some day with my own Packard project. My dream Packard was on ebay about a year ago, but I didn't have a spare 40 grand laying around to make the purchase. I'm sure that there was much banter about it when it came up for sale. I love the copper, cream, and brown interior. Super-classy! All it needs is a set of wire wheels to be perfect.

Jeff

I believe part if the discussion on your dream car is that it has changed hands more than once and the asking price was less that last time around. Perhaps history will repeat itself and it will become available again -- this time in your price range.

I'm fairly certain that the "dream car" is the same one that sold out of the Hershey Fall Meet car corral a few years back to an agent for the O'Quinn collection for $65,000. Again assuming it's the same car, it was an outstanding car is every respect but even so many of us were a bit flabbergasted at the sale price. I believe it's changed hands at least twice since the O'Quinn collection was dispersed.

The ebay seller was down south, Georgia I think, and I see a Barret Jackson plate on the back, so he probably picked it up at one of their auctions. If the car remains in the US, maybe I will get a shot at it some day in the future. It's funny how some cars just keep moving around and never seem to find a long-term home. A friend of mine sold his 1970 Charger RT to a dealer back around 2003, and as far as I know the car is still moving from one dealer to the next. It's been all over the country and the "history" of the car keeps getting modified with each new seller.

Hi everybody!
I am the swede that now is waiting for his Packard to arrive to Sweden. It is two years since I bought the Packard of EBay and it sure will be nice to see it live. First of all I would like to thank Jeff for his enthusiasm for this car and for starting this blog. Jeff asked if I was willing to continue to post updates on the blog as the work goes on with the Packard, this is something that I am willing to do but it will not be as frequent and sometimes the wording will be strange due to me using the English language, but I guess that Swedish is not an option .
My hobby has so far mostly been about Mopars 56 - 61. Right now I am at the end of restoring a 1961 Chrysler, see Link. The Chrysler project will consume my garage time for the next 6 months to come so there will not be much time for the Packard.
However, I will post updates and pictures whenever there is something to tell.

G'day Richard,
for agreeing to post updates as you progress with your Packard. I, for one, will be looking forward to them. And from your pictures of the Chrysler there's a lot of work being done there, a real big project.

On another note, I already thanked you for including the Packard in the Owner Registry in this post. But see, since then, you've changed your Forum name. Because my post about the Registry entry is over a week old I can't go back and edit it to your current Forum name, sorry. And because your Forum name is changed you may not be able to edit/update your Registry entry now, please let me know if there's a problem there.

Now is the Packard on Swedish ground!
After 66 years in US, the Packard finally arrived to Sweden. It was delivered in pretty nasty weather at a buddy's place. I decided to get it transported to its new home instead of driving it, didn't want to take any risks with the last 10 miles (after traveled half the Globe).
Well at home (in the very south of Sweden), the Packard did start as soon as the glass filter was filled with gas, and yes, she runs really nice. THANKS JEFF for a tremendous craftsman work. The Packard is now roommate with a much younger Chrysler (mentioned in my previous posting). So far I have not done much to the Packard more than just admiring the design, technical solutions and of course Jeff's finger tips feeling for preservation of this relatively unmolested car. The body is in better shape than I thought and the car seems to be complete except for the outside rearview mirrors (so if someone has a pair, let me know). Next step will be to get the paperwork in order, I had to send the original Maine registration to the vehicle department together with bill of sale and customs paper. This has to be done in order to get permission to get to next step where all the technical data will be collected (weight, tank volume, width, length, and proof of VIN). When this step is done I will get a Swedish title for the car and Swedish plates (ugly). We do not have different titles for different regions, the title looks the same for the whole country.
After this step is approved you will have to go to a regular car inspection. This inspection is to make sure the car is road worthy; brakes, emission, parking-brake, brakes, lights, turn signals, frontend flash, universal joints, wheel bearings and the list goes on, if something is found to not fulfill the inspectors wish you have to visit them again (and that goes for the step before as well).
I have posted some pictures from the first meeting with the Packard.

I will keep you posted, not as often as Jeff did, but I will.

Richard,

A little bit late, still running around on the South Island of NZ in their Packard Rally, but thanks for the update that your Packard has arrived in Sweden.
