Back in the early '60s I was working in an auto electric shop. We did tune-ups. Our practice was to remove the distributors when installing new points and condensers and set them up on a Sun distributor tester.
We did this on all vehicles except one make. This make had an intermediate coupling between the distributor shaft and the oil pump shaft. It was not pinned in place, but just fit over both shafts. Problem was removing the distributor would sometimes bring the intermediate coupling with it, then the coupling would slide off the distributor and end up in the pan. Cannot remember the make that had this design.
I mention this as it was another way to couple the the distributor and the oil pump in a V-8. Anyone know the make that did this?
