here are some progress photos. The first one is of the roll of rubber matting I got at the farm and ranch store. The next one is showing the newspaper I used to make a pattern. I like it better than butcher paper, as it is lighter and easier to adjust. Plus I can put it in in segments, then tape it together. The next one is of the left hand side of the trunk and the last the right. Tomorrow I'll cut two pieces of plywood and cut the remainder of the matting to fit on top of it. As pointed out by John, the correct covering is a tar backed cardboard with a leather grain, but I think the rubber will work, and look ok. Plus it should help dampen the road noise.

That looks really nice.

I'll have to check Agri-Supply in my area to see if they carry something similar.

I got the flock-it kit the day before we took off on vacation. I'll try it first of next week and will post photos.

Ok - I put the flocking in the trunk today. It worked quite well. The kit was about $62 and was plenty to do the sides of the trunk. The company apparently colors the adhesive to the color of the flocking. I picked a medium gray, and the glue was the same color. I brushed it on with a 2 1/2" brush, and then sprayed the fibers on, using the yellow tube. It worked very well - you just spray the stuff on until you can't see any shiny reflections from a strong light. Here are some photos. The photo of the side of the trunk is a bit fuzzy as the camera was having difficulty focusing, but the final finish matches the bits and pieces I found in the trunk. Course my wife was laughing about my Packard Chia Pet.....
