Many years back KD made a tool for 6 and 8 cylinder Packard valve guides up thru 1954, they are driven down and out, but haven't seen one in years. It's very easy to make one or have one made by a friend with a lathe. Here are pictures of some I used used over the years - 2nd from the left is the professional KD tool and as you can see the pilot end finally broke off. It's just a length of solid cylindrical steel turned to give a pilot to fit into the guide, a good solid shoulder to hit with a hammer, and an intermediate diameter that will fit inside the guide bore.

Though in my experience it's easier to drive them down and out you can also make a simple tool to pull them up rather than drive them down; here's the type of tool Pierce Arrow recommended their mechanics make for that job.

Either way, up or down, simple tools to make. If you choose to drive them down, you'll have to use a chisel in the valve lifter area to break off the bottom as the guide is longer than the space available. They are VERY brittle and snap off quite easily.
