West Fargo Cruise Night July

The monthly cruise night in the suburbs here, another good turnout and nice weather. Of course my car isn't there yet but I did see one Packard, a 1940 110 that is very nice. I have yet to manage to meet the owners so I don't have details, and haven't ever seen the hood open.

And today was the Island Park show which was part of the street fair. Only Packard there was the 49 Custom 8 that I saw in my neighborhood before. His sign says that it has been in their family since 1959.
Notice his hood ornament, looks to me like they have the 52 and later swept back wings installed, reversed so they are upright to "look" correct for the 49. But they are backwards this way. Maybe if I can find some upright wings I could work a trade so I can get some swept wings for mine, they are missing.

Cruise Night again, August edition. Amazingly, we found another example of a 52 200 Deluxe Touring Sedan, the same thing as our car. Had a good conversation with the owners, they have a parts car too so we're going to be in touch I hope. Older restoration, about 30 years ago. Inspiration!

Hi HA52
Thanks for the pictures, nice to see a few Packards turn out to give the general public some exposure to cars they may never have heard of these days. The '40 110 convertible is a sweetheart, that '49 Custom Eight looks to be a nice original and the '52 200 Deluxe very handsome in its light green livery. The only change I'd make to that '52 200 would be to paint the top dark green or perhaps black. Just personal taste, but I think the 200/Clipper sedans look more appealing two-toned. I hope you will keep the two-tone when you repaint yours. Steve

Please, not a black roof. A really nice combination in 1954 for the Patrician was Galahad green, a dark metallic, over Orchard green (non-metallic) which was not far removed from what you have. IMO a very fine color combination for the sedan.

Based on the data tag on the door the car was originally mono-tone Aspen Green (code 'O'). It appears the car is currently mono-tone Aspen Green. Why mess with correctness? Not to mention that the car looks great.
If I simply had to re-paint in two-tone (in this case I wouldn't) I'd go with Gallant Green over Aspen Green (combination code 'JO') which would be correct for the year and very similar to O_D's '54 combination. Black over Aspen Green ... way too much contrast in my view. Color and color combinations are a personal taste thing but I would stick with what the Packard stylists picked for the car. Particularly if you ever expect to sell the car. And...always avoid the Circus Wagon paint job. You can put too many colors on a car. Ruxton excepted. Attach file: (14.48 KB)
