If the fuel filter near the carb is of a GLASS BOWL type then do the following:
On a hot day after a hard run shut the engine off. IMMEDIATELY lift the hood and watch the gas in the glassbowl. It willtake anywhere from at least 5 minutes to as long as 10 minutes to watch it. The fuel will slowly LEAVE the glass bowl. Maybe return to glass bowl in another 5 minutes. Just waatch it to see what happens. Also sniff for gasoline. As someone else suggested try looking down the carb (ENGINE OFF) while working the throttle linkage to see if a GOOD STRONG STREAM Of gas is squirted.
