Spell Checker. (yes, i already looked at FAQ)

Spell checker does not seem to work on my machine. I click on "Spell Check" button at bottom of text entry box. All i get is a pop-up box that is all blackened out with a blue horizontal strip at the top containing "Spell Checker" text. A rather dimmed "X" in upper rite corner to X-out of it. But no display of what i had just typed.

Have never had a problem on my Mac. Works just fine except for lindseed. Which now works for linseed. Haven't quite figured that one out.
