Installing Rubber Weatherstrip in Windshield in a '32 Sedan

Is there a secret to installing the rubber weatherstrip in the windshield? I bought a section of 70-0057-52 from Steele Rubber, but cannot get it into the T channel that runs along the bottom of the windshield. I've tried everything I can think of e.g. streching, water & soap solution, etc.
