Stromberg BXV026 carb

Here is my saga.

My '40 110 had a Holden carb on it when I bought it (Australia GM).

I bought the correct carb on ebay (and later a kit for it). Someone rebulit it for me. It seemed to work great for an hour. Then I noticed some gas so I tightened everything. Then it started pouring out of the bottom portion of the carb (the nut on the other side of the throttle assembly). I didn't figure it was actually leaking there so I assumed the float. Bent the float down quite a bit and it was even worse when I got it back on.

Any help?

John,

Sorry to hear about your problem. Does this mean you wont be at the Wyong run on Sunday?

Seriously though, there is a carburettor specialist on Parramatta Road Burwood, Carburettor Service Company, who could probably do the carb for you but I expect they are expensive. I'll have a talk on Sunday with Wade, who uses these people for rebuilds and help on carbs, and let you know.

Sounds like a sunken float (filled with gas), a faulty needle and seat, too high a pump pressure, or a casting crack in the fuel inlet.

Thanks....the float "sinking" occurred to me overnight. I will check that out when I have time. The fuel pump is new (ok a rebuilt one)and correct for the model and the needle and seat are new to the rebuild, so lookong at the float sounds like the place to start.

Mal we are going to Wyong but, unfortunately, in a Subaru (or maybe with the Clarksons)

G'day all,

John, Annett and the '40 110 were at Wyong today where they gained two trophies, one for best dressed in the period of their car and the other, I think, for most original car. John, please correct me if I'm wrong on the award. Apparently the carb is no longer acting up so they drove up yesterday, stayed the night and went to the Show & Shine today.

LOL Runner up for best original. Translated....that means for a car that needs work it sure has most of it's proper parts.

Haven't got back to the carb problem that seemed to mysteriously disappear. Gonna put the BXOV26 back on this week when I have time.

Beginning to wonder if it really is too much fuel pressure. Can't comprehend that situation really. A fuel pump is a fuel pump.

Where were you, Kath, Wade, and Gina when Annet was picture taking/??

John,

We were around most of the time, went to view the auction items and the vendors tables set up in the 'betting ring'. After the auction and lunch I went off to take pic's of some of the cars. Speaking of pic's I can't download/upload them yet because I've still got a PC problem. Don't know about the others. And again, congratulations on your trophies.
