If you can ignore the dust and hanging wires, here are a few photos that might help. If you need something specific will see what I can do.

Thanks Howard, the first and last pictures of the throttle linkage look the best.

Howard, I did what you did and added a bracket for a throttle return spring. But I was looking at this other picture from a 47 Super Clipper (not Custom) and it does have that spring and I was told that this engine did not have any work done on it and it was all orginal. So if I ever get a chance I'll have to take another look at that other engine.

The other spring by the carb is a question. 22nd has it shown but it does not appear in the 21st parts list or illustrations -- but then the 21st parts list is interesting because it shows a considerable amount if not most of the prewar assy as being used on 21st cars and I have yet to see that unit on a postwar car. All the cars I've seen have the postwar unit which except for some minor details and the calibration was the same as the 22nd series. I'm thinking that if the prewar unit was used at all it might have been on a few of the very early 46 21st series and the manual was just a copy of the original Clipper parts book and didn't get all the pages revised showing the postwar unit.
I know some 21st cars didn't have the spring and I've seen a few that do. Since the 22nd called for it I added the bracket and spring on mine because I didn't feel the throttle was coming back to idle reliably -- but then I readjusted some linkage and took the spring off because it was too heavy. Went on to do some other things so the engine was not able to be started & haven't played with it since to know if the linkage took care of the idling or if a lighter spring is still needed.

Hi Wesley
These pages are from a 1953 Chilton Motor Age Service Manual covering Electromatic. Hope something here is helpful: Steve

And therein lies confusion. I wonder how many might have tried to work on a postwar unit using those instructions and gotten the unit or themselves totally messed up.
The unit shown as being used thru 53 is the prewar unit and EC was discontinued after the 50 models. Postwar units were greatly simplified compared to prewars, had no transmission switches, no relays and no solenoids to modify the vacuum release to power cylinder. The later units only had one solenoid to turn the vacuum completely on or off and besides the on/off switch, the only other electrical components were the accelerator and direct drive switches and the governor.

Well it sounds like a fun time piecing it together. Here are some more parts that I found and looks like I am missing a couple of pipes. If anyone has an spare parts please let me know.
Thanks all! Wes

Interesting. That is the prewar unit. Was that unit on the car or is it one you came across? If it came on the car, is it an early car and does it still have the relays on the firewall and the switches on the transmission? The switches are on the passenger side and operated by extensions of the shift levers which go thru the case top. A different transmission setup than normally seen on 47s. The switches work the relays and the two additional solenoids on the control valve.
The postwar unit I've typically seen on 47s is detailed in the training manual "Clutch and Electromatic Clutch" and is so much simpler.
