Can the oil pan be removed on a 1951 288 while it is in the car?

Okay thanks, I know some cars you need to unbolt the front motor mount and jack the engine up a bit for clearance.

No front mount on your '51, they use mounts on each side. The comments you heard about the front mount would pertain to the 23rd series and prior.

My experience with removing an oil pan on a 327 is back a couple
of pages... haspicturess of the crankshaft having tobe turned so that #1 is at the halfway up in its bore position so you slip the oil pan off.
