I have not seen Ross on in a few days. I think he may be out of the country as he usually is about this time every years.
Howard, I did see that SC you are referring to. It will have to be something I keep an eye on when pulling stuff apart to see what may be needed to mate everything successfully. This is one of the reasons why I sourced a spare GS bellhousing and GS oil pan, so I can completely rebuild it on the bench. This way I can work through any issues, without having to take the Clipper out of service. I just wonder how many failed Ultramatics that are out there are the result of mismatched parts from some rebuilder that know any better. Makes you wonder. On another note, drained the fluid out of the transmission/converter last night. It was used and a bit dark, but not burnt smelling. A tiny bit of lining particles in the fluid.

Dave, thanks for confirming that. Unless someone rebuilt with older parts, then it should have all the changes.
Any thoughts on the 68 or 89 scratched on the top of the case? Perhaps a rebuilder marking his handwork?

Ok so I got all the parts of the transmission remove from the case. So I will post the pictures over a couple of posts.
First up, removing the PB Controls. It appears whoever removed the tranny from the car first didnt drain the tranny, which I will never understand, and 2nd didnt know how to remove the PB actuator. The bottom inspection plate was missing, but since they probably didnt know the it had to be in reverse for the set screw to be visible. So they cut all the wiring to it. So I used a large screwdriver to turn the worm gear and move the shaft into reverse position. Then I was able to access the set screw and remove it.

Next I remove the oil pan. Pretty self explanatory. I had already removed the dipstick tube.

Next the oil transfer tubes...
None of the tube were sticking out far enough for me to grab with needlenose pliers as shown in the service manual. So I used a piece of stiff wire to catch the back edge of the tube and pull it out.

Remove the tail housing next...
One thing I found interesting was the service manual shows a rear space with a hole in the middle, my rear spacer had to hole. Running change?
