Ronald McDonald car. Love your caption Among other things the sellers claims: - New/partial paint on exterior - All bolt-on body parts have been repainted. - Needs interior completed and have all parts. On another thread someone asked about two-tone paint on a 1937 junior car and BigKev posted a Packard letter NOT RECOMMENDING two-tone paint schemes. That letter was done for a reason; because PMCC had the forethought that someone would do this to one of their cars. BTW, this seller is DREAMING!!! The car, when complete with a period-correct paint scheme and all new interior will be worth (IMHO) somewhat less than the $75.000 he is asking for it now in its current condition. OK, to determine its current (as-is) value you need to DEDUCT from the asking price: ? Your estimate of a complete paint job in period correct colors ? Your estimate of a complete new interior ? Cost freshen engine & engine bay - photo is dated 12 years ago, 2004 ? Another 10% to 20% off for something I refer to as a "Stupidity Surcharge." Because anyone that has "repainted all bolt-on body parts" red has certainly done something equally bizarre with other parts of the car.

Hello BDC: Now that I re-look at the rear-end photo I realize that the car is on the trailer backward. The heavy motor is at the back of the trailer, not forward toward the hitch. So I'm increasing my SS deduction to more like 25%. That would bring me in line your estimate.

BTW I can't take credit for the "ronald Mcdonald" comparison. I posted this car a while back and someone else called it a McDonald's car.

The door sheet metal looks pretty wavy to me. Which means body work needs to be done still.
Probably all those bolt on parts would need to be repainted again since good luck trying to get everything to match and blend. There is a reason they say to paint a car by the same painter, on the same day, using the same paint gun. It would be quicker to repaint everything, than try to blend and match those red panels. I dont think it's meant to be a two-tone car. As you wouldn't have painted the truck lid like that. I just think he painted panels off the car, and didnt do the body shell for some reason.

Hi
For comparison, here's that chalky-blue '37 Super Eight sedan with the postwar engine listed by Copart Auctions: copart.com/us/Lot/19068566?searchId=2075483843 Someone has bid $24.5K as of today. Get a load of their "Est. Retail Value" : $130,000 USD! Apparently Copart typically overestimates collector car values, witness this '54 Clipper Sportster with the '56 taillights and 'continental kit' back porch: copart.com/us/Lot/37638035?searchId=2075483843 Buy It Now price: $9,500, Est. Retail Value: $38,300 USD.... Steve

You had me scared there as I was wondering who would bid that amount, but no one has bid on the car yet. If you go back to the CL ad in the upper-right corner it says "No Bid." So I think that is their initial bid amount. Their second listing starts at $125.
