K.A.R Kanter's Shop

We have been supplying quality reproduction, nos and used Packard parts to the hobby for over 50 years. But for almost 10 years our restoration shop K.A.R. ( Kanter Auto Restoration) has been restoring many different makes and models of classic cars for Kanter and its customers. But our soft spot still lies with Packards.
We wanted to share some of our most recent completed jobs as well as some current ones.

1951 Packard 200
This one came into the shop for a windshield replacement. The old windshield was removed as well as the weather strip. Rot was found underneath the weather strip in the channel. It was attended to and a new old stock windshield from inventory was installed along with new weather stripping.

1953 Packard Mayfair
This Mayfair came into the shop March of this year. All of the Chrome, bright work and glass were removed. Then the body was stripped of all its paint and all necessary metal work was preformed. It was then treated to a fresh two-tone paint job that included a wet sand and polish to give the finish that mirror like shine. During reassembly all the weather strip was replace to ensure nice quiet and comfortable ride. This one will be leaving the shop shortly.

Below is one of our newest cars to Kanter Auto Restoration. This Clipper was bought new by the owner and has remained in his care ever since. After a long hiatus of being off the road (about 20 years or so) the owner and his children have decided that it was about time to give this Packard some love and continue on making memory. When the car arrived at our shop we went through the routine of pulling spark plugs and turning the engine over by hand first. Then fuel system was cleaned, flushed and the original tank was replace with a brand new tank. The points we cleaned and the old car roared to life. Since then the brake system has been attended to and the Treadle Vac unit is in the process of being rebuilt. Still a long way to go but we are glad to see yet another Packard brought back to its former glory.
