thought it might be a good idea to have this in its own thread for searching purposes.

Thanks for confirming Ross. I have been spending the morning looking at Hastings catalog. several sets will work in 3.25, but have to get them in .030 oversize.
adding .030 to 3.25 and I get 3.28, of which hastings makes 3 different sets. two of which I can get in chromed. there is also a listing in 3.28 on summit's website. made by FP Diesel. have to buy multiple sets to reach 8 cylinders though, which adds up. summitracing.com/parts/fpd-fp5948kx30/overview/ the ring bores on the Kanter pistons are different then stock. the top two are 3/32 instead of the stock 1/8 and the bottom is 3/16 on both oem and kanter. I plan on looking over other ring manufactures....mahle etc. there has to be a modern replacement in chrome moly, etc etc.

okay....got new oil rings from Kanter. modern ones that consist of scraper, wave, scraper. go to gap them and this is what I see. I'm just at a loss for words here.
or maybe I'm just ignorant, but that gap is WAY too wide. .032 feeler gauge still has room on each side. the instructions that came with the rings say .003-.004 per inch of bore. should be max .012 gap. starting to wonder if they sent me the wrong oversize. yes I pushed them down with the piston to the lower travel of the bore. James gathered the information I needed and the gap is correct. I also called Grant early this morning and they confirmed before James was able to reply to my email.
.012 is for the compression rings not the oil rails...but it would have been nice if Grant had included that information with the instructions. back to building the motor now.
