Packard Master Salesmanship Program Kit

This kit was property of the Packard Motor Company. It was used by traveling salesmen to promote the Packard line of cars. It is a leather brief case that is filled with film canisters, records, and instructions on how to promote and show the cars to dealerships and individuals. It also comes with a record player / projector combo that they used to show the cars and play the records on. The vintage of this is probably between 1930 and 1940. It is a very rare and interesting piece of automotive history.

I have the same kit, most of the films are 1948-54 in my kit. There was also an identical kit for sale at the PI meet in California last week.

I remember my father bringing home the program kit for a family night of entertainment. We all enjoyed the film strips projected on a screen with sound from the record being spun on the player. I wish I had that kit now.

My brother and I were about the age of the first photo, now we are the age of the second photo. Interesting, the car has not changed, but we sure have.

JW,

Hopefully someone who has one of these will upload audio or video.

I ran across a few more pictures, showing the projector and record player, that was part of the kit.

Regards,

Dave

Great photos - particularly the two boys (then and now) on the Packard. Thank all of you for posting. I have the records and case but only a few film strips.

What was the first year of this program?

How many film strips came with each kit?

Is there a list of the film strips?

I have seen film strips for the 1948 and 1951, was that because of the change in the body?

JW,
Your recreation photo reminds me of the photos in Jim Hollingsworth book and Henry's recreation photo. Nice.

Does a kit exist for 1955 models? I'd love to find one. :)
