Painted Head nuts ??

I've noticed several 40 & 41 Packards have the head nuts painted. Am I correct to assume that Packard did not paint head nuts?

The Chrome/Stainless acorn head nuts are just car show bling, and are not correct/factory on the straight eight/six motors.
