Sadly, a 1940 110 coupe bites the dust
On the 42 convertible, is the single front fender strip factory?

it is a Packard, but it makes my toes curl. What a beautiful car but why would you butcher it like this?

It seems to me that I have seen this car before, and in a lot more detail. The seller wanted six figures for it; but any relation to Packard has to do with the exterior design.
Check out the interior: It has an aftermarket steering wheel way too small for what would have come with the car in 1934; I can see only a gas pedal (modern aftermarket), but no clutch pedal (I don't even see a brake pedal, for that matter!); it has modern bucket seats; the shifter is definitely wrong and is most likely the automatic transmission shifter. Strangely, there is no window control at all on the door. The V-8 engine looks good all chromed and I like the embossed "Packard" on the valve covers. No one puts that much chrome on an engine unless the car is a custom rod used mainly for show. The side mount covers should extend all of the way over the tires and they look suspiciously like they are fiberglass. I honestly have no idea what I would do with a car like this: I wouldn't bring it to a Packard meet or attempt to register it as a real 1934 Packard. It is definitely too much to use as a daily driver. Simply put, it's all too much!

You can make a lot of really neat things from the parts left over after you rebuild your engine ...

Hi
I too suspect that Saratoga Springs auction convertible Victoria may be more fiberglass than real EGB metal. Didn't Gibbons in Nebraska run off some of those '34 repli-cars before he quit? Some real EGB Contours: A '51 200, looks as if a good deal was spent on paint and chrome and upholstery but all the trim didn't get re-installed: knoxville.craigslist.org/cto/6199342853.html A '52 200 Deluxe, toothy grille, list automatic but a clutch pedal, no Ultrmatic selector show in photo: nashville.craigslist.org/cto/6193623381.html And for the 'custom' fancier, a '53 Clipper, red, white 'flames', stick, pricey: raleigh.craigslist.org/cto/6176303056.html Steve

Yes, Gibbons has several versions of the '34 Packard, and this looks to be one of those.

The owner is the guy who re-did my seats. This car has been sitting in his shop for a long time. I don't know why he calls it a 1955 Patrican instead of a 1955 400, he should know better. Or should he?
