1956 clipper throttle spring

any one have a diagram of how the throttle spring or springs are attached and located ,car has auto trans, it looks like it might have been attached to fire wall ? someone before i got the car .put a spring from intake to throttle linkage,does not work well.thanks

The parts book shows the spring under the floorboard as was used in most postwar models. I believe they might have added or even relocated that spring to a position on the firewall in 55-6

There is a factory punched hole in the bottom firewall flange directly under the accelerator linkage pivot. A photo from the 55 manual for adding a dealer installed factory AC unit shows a spring on the firewall.. Whether they also kept the original underfloor spring is a question I can't answer.

FWIW, my '56 and the 4 others in my local group only have the lower spring - the one pictured in the parts book illustration.
