Thank you David and Tolandis, I will source the tools and cutting fluid today. Everything takes a little while to obtain down here in Tassie... I'll report back in a while.

John,
Another thought occurred, maybe others have tried this. What about using a LH drill and running your drill in reverse. Once most of the centre of the broken bolt removed it might just loosen the remaining broken piece and unscrew it out. suttontools.com/products/jobber-drills-left-hand-drills-d202/

I wondered that myself, David. Worth a try for sure. Thanks!

I finally managed to find time to tackle the broken bolts in my engine block that hold the water jacket cover in place. Achieved 4 out of the 6, leaving 2 to do. Carefully drilled out the broken bolts, starting with a tiny centre drill, then a sequence of increasing drill sizes to create an oversized hole, using cutting fluid to aid the process. Tapped the hole and installed the inserts as directed on the pack. The remaining 2 might be slightly trickier because they are in blind holes. Looking forward to finishing the job, hopefully next weekend.

No apology necessary Mal!

"Hi John,

I've simply had too much going on in life to spend time and money on the coupe. I guess it's a matter of priorities, and I've been putting other things ahead of the car; family, health and fitness, work and wilderness adventures have been my focus, and will be again for this year... lots of pressure at work, lots of family commitments and a couple of big adventures to plan for August through to December... Peru and Nepal. Meanwhile the car is safe and secure; I just hope I finally get it going during the internal combustion era! Please tell us about your 1935 Eight, Jim? Cheers, John from Tassie.
