Talked with my friend Roger (you remember growing up with packard). They just finished re restoring a 34 LeBaron boat tail speedster. He specifically remembers not having a problem getting it out or in. Actually when it came time to put it in they already had the transmission mounted. He said it just barely made it, with very little clearance. So he says you should not have to jack up the body.

tolandis,

I wonder if the Lebaron body is narrower at the waist than the sedan body. The widest part of the sedan body on a 30 corresponds to the point where the shaft sits.

I spent another hour out in the garage this past weekend looking at the problem, measuring, fiddling, etc. and I can't get it out unless I either: a) make the shaft holes in the frame much larger or b) cut the shaft. I'm not willing to do either.

So, I built a body cart and am now pondering the jack arrangement necessary to get the body on the cart.

Thank you again to all that have helped. I will hopefully be updating my blog this week so folks can follow along on the latest saga, if they wish.

Cheers,

Tom
