Got the soft ware, thanks. Resized photos, tried to attach one, and twice this site froze up. Just went to a white screen?

This is where the vacuum line attaches on the intake manifold. I drive the car a lot, gets dirty. Carburetor has not been rebuilt in about ten years, I know the jet covers sometimes come a bit loose and leak.

Here are the pictures of the modified combination wrench. Hard to see the ground down closed end.

Thanks, Todd. I'll make a modified 1/2" wrench.
THROTTLE GUARD The TG (dashpot) and bracket arrived from the flackmaster, had a little surface corrosion, so I cleaned it up. Howard HH56 gave me one a few years ago that looks like the one in the 1940 manual, but at the time I thought it was too big, the Stromberg was giving me problems and I had given up on it, and the bracket was for another engine or year, plus the diaphragm was shot. But after this new one arrived with the enclosed top, I think either could be used. The probosces are the same length. So, another little project for another day. CARB: Back from Daytona Parts and all sealed up, ready for John to install with the TG bracket and fuel filter, after we have the Duchess back from the drive train shop. REAR-END: Anticipating a box of parts from the flackmaster today to repair the carrier, axles, drive line. This was a rescue mission on his part Friday night to find everything and have it shipped in the morning, as he was leaving for MI. The shop could possibly fill in some parts, I had some surplus parts that might be usable, and NAPA had a few items. So we'll know today if we have everything needed to put the ambulance rear-end in top condition for the trip(s).

The ambulance rear end likely has a different ratio so you may be going slower than the speedometer says you are. Not an issue in itself just so long as you're aware of it.
Are the wheel bolt patterns they same? I know of later models they were quite different.

Yes, that's true. Thanks. I changed the speedometer cable pinion gear so I get a closer reading within 5 mph now. I ran a 5th wheel on it (my daughter in the SUV on the freeway) and the speedo reading is slower than my actual.
My ratio is 4.09 so I have a 17-tooth gear 335160. A 16-tooth (347651) would give a faster reading on the speedo, but I don't know by how much. If it were just 5 mph faster reading, I may want to try for one of those. But it was made for a 3.9 ratio. I do have an 18-tooth(335161) for a 4.36 ratio and a 19-tooth (335162) for a 4.54 or 4.7 ratio. And there is a 20-tooth (335163) for a 4.9 ratio. It's easy to switch those out.

Yes, sorry, the wheel bolt patterns are the same, but the ends of the axles are different, much larger for the ambulance, so they require a different hub (or one machined with a larger cone as mine were).
OK, everything arrived, but I was told we also need the differential gears, the larger spider gears that attach to the axles. Max Merritt has those and they are on order. Hopefully shipped tomorrow. Time seems to stand still when the car is in the shop.
