I only had the fitting to examine and not the tube, but now that I see the tube and end fitting I suspect the end of the little brass sleeve has a "V" machined into it to fit snugly against the protruding male flare on the fitting in the block.

Here are some photos of the matching fitting on the block for a 115C. The tubing end ia a 45 degree SAE flare and the block end is a 1/8 pipe thread.
The diameter of the metering hole in the block end is .035" And, yes the matching adapter on the tubing has a tapered recess to match the flare fitting.
