Warning, warning, warning!
Expect a rise in video/DVD rentals of "Empire of The Sun" following Pat's post. I can see Packards owners fighting in the aisles of video stores over the last one available! And Pat, as a result of ALL this free publicity, your "residuals" will rise accordingly.

Pat-
Is this your car from Empire of the Sun? 2 hours 6 minutes into the movie, Scene 38, Olympic Stadium. From the novel: "An hour after nightfall they reached a football stadium on the western outskirts of Nantao. This concrete arena had been built on the orders of Madame Chiang Kai-Shek, in the hope that China might be host to the 1940 Olympic Games. Captured by the Japanese after their invasion in 1937, the stadium became headquarters for the war zone south of Shanghai" The stadium was also used to store what was looted from the wealthy foreigners' homes. The treasures had no use to the Japanese therefore they were left.

Yes, Sir thats my Baby!
The guy I bought the Packard from told me about it and Mr. Jim Pearsall also brought it to my attention. I do recognize some features on the Packard sill existing on my car today (For 'features, read faults!). I got am email from the Buster Keaton fan club last year asking me for details of my Packard. They believe there is some connection between Keaton and the Packard. The previous owner told me there was some Hollywood connection apart from The Empire of the Sun but he could not remember what it was. If you want a signed autographed photo of myself and the Packard, please send me a cheque for a sizeable amount and a stamped self-address envelope. Pat. ps. If I remember correctly there are a number of Packards in the aformentioned film.

Yes, I just watched Empire of the Sun again, this time looking for Packards. There are several others besides yours, and many scenes where they focus on the hood ornament/pelican/Cormorant whatever you want to call it.
Just wait by the mail box, I sent you a sizable check for your autograph; several people are interested in my 65 Packard V12. BTW, the actor is Christian Bale, who also plays Batman.
