Hi everyone- I'm looking for a recommendation for OEM exhaust manifold porcelain coating for my 1931 Packard 840. Any thoughts or experience with good companies?

My manifolds and exhaust look like new after 8 years and 26,000 miles.

I have never had a problem with QC Coatings in Shelby Township, MI - about 2.5 miles from the PPG.

I sent mine to Tom Sparrow at Prairie Porcelain in Faribault Minnesota. He seemed very knowledgeable and has done a bunch of them. His prices aren't the lowest, but he definitely knew what he was talking about. He was able to describe over the phone where my manifold was likely cracked, based simply on the make and model of the car (model 645). I had to look with a magnifying glass to see the crack, but he was right. When I confirmed it with him he said. "yeah, they all crack right there". The good news is that he has a guy who can weld cast iron, so he could fix it.

I agree with Roger. The ceramic coating will serve you much better.

Thanks to all for your replies- I really wish there was a ceramic coating product that had the beautiful shine of porcelain, but I'm not aware of one. I ceramic coated my Etype manifolds and sacrificed the porcelain look, but I think I'm going to stick with porcelain for the 840. So sounds like Prarie (Minnesota) and Porcelain Enamel (Missouri) are the two options.

The ceramic is glossy like the porcelain. I'd like to see what you did to your Jaguar, but we put ceramic on the Speedster and it is indeed glossy.

So who is doing a GLOSS? QC Coatings calls their black "Matte black" I have done these coatings before from different companies and never came up with a gloss. BUT it has been a few years.
