Don't understand the fuel pump problem, as my local mechanic rebuilt my pump with a kit from Kanter. Are you planning to make the Florida Packard meet in Brooksville, Fl?

Fred,

The fuel pump came with the car when I bought it. It worked at that time then it sat for 4 years until I rebuilt the engine. It worked fine while the engine was being broken-in. Then it sat for 2 years while I finished the car. Just when I was ready to drive it, the diaphragm blew spewing gas all over my shop. The moral I learned from the story was that when your not sure of the condition of a critical component, get it rebuilt whether it works or not! It's on it's way back from Gould now.

I like to go the Packard Brooksville Spring Tour, if the car runs, I'll be there!

Wanted to debut the Packard at the Kaiser-Devereaux meet in Sarasota this Sunday but the fuel pump nixed that. Weather is supposed to be bad anyway.

Terrell Machine in DeLeon Texas is another good source for repair kits for the fuel pumps. The kits are not difficult to install, but it's a good idea to take photos as you disassemble the unit.

Got the rebuilt fuel pump installed. Gould did a nice job on it and got it back to me promptly. Have now been able to run the car for an extended period of time to check for leaks and check the operation of the gauges. Oil pressure and temp seem to be slightly higher than my mechanical gauge and my handheld temp reader. My modified amp to volt gauge moves but can't determine any significance from the reading yet. The modified fuel circuit using a Chevrolet sensor in the tank shows half full with a half full tank. It seems to react slower to the reading but eventually shows the correct reading. Will have to see how it works with other fuel levels. Here's a picture with the car running for about 15 minutes.

Milestone day for my Packard project, drove it out of the shop under its own power for the first time since I drove it or pushed it into the shop back in 2013. Up on the lift for a quick check.

I've been working overtime in the last two weeks to get my project ready for it's first carshow today. Alas, the show has cancelled by the weather. The show was going to be somewhere under this radar shot of the state of Florida!

I had this weather Saturday night as it moved over the Florida Panhandle. We were also hit by Hurricane Michael in October. We just can't get a break in the weather this winter.
