It has been awhile since I have posted any pictures of the garage remodeling. Since coming back from Waarren last week I have been working every spare moment on the garage. The first pictures is of the corner of the garage and the back wall being insulated and finnished with sheets osb.

The last picture is of the dividing coming down. More picture lster in the week.

TO those interested: While randy has been hard at work on in New Packard, I have been very buwsy on the remodel of my garage this last week.

The first picture below is of two complete walls on the right side of the garage that was un-insulated.

The second and third pictures of the open space were the dividing wall once stood.

The fourth picture of of a small over loft, that I built to store some of my car parts.

It has been better than a week since I have posted any pictures on the remodel of my garage. Work on the garage over the past week, hasn't gone as I hoped it would have because of the heat. The pictures I am posting tonight are of the the right bay of the garage, which was unfinished.
The work on insulation and putting up the sheets of obs paneling is 95% complete. The only major job left to be done is the insulation of the sealing joists in the garage. I am hoping by the end of this that will be done and the only thing left to do is cleaning up of the garage.

The last picture posted is of the Sun Tune Up machine that I purchased at an auction about 6 years ago for $5.00. Along with the machine came a pile of original Sun tune up specs dating back to 1948 through the late 70's.

The garage remodel came to a close last Saturday, thank god
for that, a lot dang hard work in hot weather.. Insulating the garage certainly has mad a difference being able to work in the garage on hot days. The temperature was 95 here today, I went up into the garage and checked the temperature in the garage and it was a cool 76, this is without the aid of running the fans or the ac in the garage for over a week.

I figure that person with an average garage of 24ft X 24ft, should be able to insulate and by an 10,000 to 12,000 BTU ac unit, and only have less than a $1,000 in the whole thing. To heat the garage this winter I pickup some used electrical baseboard heaters for about a $1.00 a foot including the thermostat for the baseboard. I purchased 26 feet of baseboard heat.

I am sorry for the double post of the first picture. I hope that this remodel of my garage has been interesting and not to boring to all.

The job looks great John. I was lucky my garage was finished when I moved in. I just open the door from inside and put a fan in the doorway to cool and heat it.
I did notice your work bench looks like mine. Too small and always loaded. hahahahaaa

Congrats one a job well done. I'm sure the time and $$$ spent will come back to you many times over. Personally, I'm a lot more productive when the humidity is low in summers, but I'm warm in the winter.

It used to be that natural gas was an economical way to heat around here, but those days are clearly gone. If I acquire my my folks house, I'm gonna install a heat pump, but with a new efficient furnace as backup, and the portable A/C unit will get moved into the garage.

Alas, I am still working on the re-landscaping work at my folks house, and it has been one step backward for evey two steps forward this year. Looks like it will spill over into next spring, but I hope to wrap it up in June. Perhaps, then I can breakground for the new garage and still have enough time to get the shell done and the cars moved home.

I had scaled back my dream to a 20x20, but you convinced not to go too small. Now, I'm thinking of a four-car garage so I can put all the cars and parts down back. Then, I can gut and insulate the attached, 24-foot deep, two-car garage and return it to its former glory as a great workspace.

Now, if i can just find a viable alternate energy source.

Today outside the temperature was 35 degrees and snowing damp and cold. So I decided to go to the garage and do some work on the Chevelle.

I installed electric base heat in the garage when I did the remodel this summer. I spent a couple of hours in the garage working at a very comfortable 62 degrees. The remodeling of the garage this summer has made for a real great garage to work on the Packard and Chevelle. While working the garage I turned on the tv and kept up on football all after noon.

I almost envy you--not the snow part--but the fact you can run electric heating when you need it. Here we have a low baseline allowance then a graduated scale use and pay 11, 13, and then jump to 22 cents per kwh. An electric heater would play h--- with the PG&E bill and ruin the whole day when it arrived.
