1955 Cribbean beeping

Hello Everybody,

When I brake to a full stop on 1955 Caribbean, sometimes there is a warning beeping (3 beeps). I have no idea what that is. Can it be related to a torsion level ride system?

I would appreciate any feedback.

Thank you,
Val.

There is nothing stock in Packards at that time which would do an electrical sounding beep other than the horns. Any chance it is some kind of mechanical sound that is being transmitted -- like a relay clicking similar to what you hear with some turn signal flashers.

The only thing I can think of that could be happening related to the TL would be if the brake switch is not disconnecting the control switch when brakes are applied and the weight shift when braking is trying to activate the system -- but if all is working in the control switch even that would take a minimum of 7 seconds after you start braking before anything happened to bring in a solenoid and start the leveling.

Thank you for the answer, Howard!

I switched off the TL with the switch under the dashboard (and I learned about it existence just a day before...). After sharp braking the beeping happened again and it actually beeps until I let go of the brake. I suspect it's some kind of an after market warning of the brake pads wear. The brakes do squeak, but I attributed it to a not enough driving. Next thing is to check the brakes.

Val.
