Hey Pat,

Very nice looking refurb!!! Trust it will all work as good as it looks; I'd say - worth the wait, looking at the detail on everything. Keep us posted as it all goes back together.

Both really, i wanted to make sure all gauges worked the way they where supposed too. The temp gauge had the wrong face on it(black with a tear drop needle) so it had been replaced at some point but had a good capillary tube. I found a doner cluster that had the right temp gauge face but no capilary tube so i had them put the right face on and redo the tube so the temp gauge worked right.

Pat, Not sure how happy you were/are with the illumination of the gauges (or if you've even evaluated them) but I found mine were hard to see at night. I did some rewiring on my various lights/switches this winter and swapped the standard #51 bulbs with # 55's and found they are significantly brighter. Obviously, the use a bit more juice, but in my case, I have isolated the map reading lights (both #55's) to the proper on/off switch on the dimmer assembly (before they were always on if the lights were on) and so the voltage consumption is pretty much a wash. The globe of the #55 is SLIGHTLY bigger, but didn't pose any problem with clearance. Just a suggestion - you may find on your clusters that they are bright enough. Chris.

Chris, thanks for the info, i did drive it at night once before i started the refresh and most interior/cluster lights where none existence. The wiring on this car is BRITTLE, and i have a complete harness waiting to be put in.

Has anyone tried any of the LEDS now available?

This is a 51 with white off white and different colors its also 6V

Never tried them, but the reviews certainly seem to indicate that they are bright... and they ARE dimmable. Might be worth a try. Personally, I just went with the standard filament bulbs, box of 10; cheap like chips. Chris.
