Just when you think all the rare, custom-bodied Packards have been found and restored, another turns up: The '40 160 SunAire sport sedan fastback by Rollson.

forums.aaca.org/topic/340925-rollson-bod ... y-air/?tab=comments#comment-2003502

Hope it receives the proper restoration it deserves.

Steve

Flack, isn't that the car we saw a few years ago in Long Beach?

Yes, just a little more dust since we were with Mike.
I researched this for Jim Hollingsworth several years ago, the owner was fully aware of what he had and its history. Yes, it deserves to be dipped in a deep bucket of money. Very deep...

If I remember right it was in a rollover accident, hence why the top was being completely rebuilt.

From what I can see in the photos it appears to be one of those 1940 cars without a theft proof number. No good explanation has ever been put forward for that oddity, affecting perhaps a bit more than about half the 1940 production.

The heavy trunk treatment was a Rollson trademark. A very interesting styling exercise. Somebody must have liked it given the look of the 1942 Chevrolet below.
