Good Morning...The Ace Hardware in our neighborhood is just down the block from Andara which is a retirement home for folks who can still do everything to folks who need lots of help. I came out of the Ace the other day and a lady of most likely 80+ was looking into Miss Prudence's back seat sort of wistfully, it seemed to me. She looked at me and said 'Lovely Car' and then moved on down the parking lot. I did not say anything! I believe that 'Miss Prudence was pleased with the complement! Ernie in Arizona

Nice that you can enjoy your Packards, but here all but essential driving, while not fully illegal, is stringently discouraged. All shows cancelled into September, and all clubs closed down if their meetings involve more than 10 members. So essentially it's stay sequestered indoors except for groceries, medical needs, and a few other exceptions.

Driving our cars should be fine. They dont spread the virus. Just don't stop and talk to anyone. I intend to drive mine but stop and talk to no one.
Also, I can drive my Packard to the grocery store. All it takes us wheels.

It was ~60 deg F. and sunny here in southern Maine.
There seems to be a shortage of eggs in the local supermarket so I was tasked by SWMBO to find some, which I did.

I did however take along an escort, per the pic.

No scenery shots simply because the landscape is pretty desolate right now but at least the snow is gone for now and we've had some rain to wash the road salt away. More snow due at the end of the week.

Hi Jim,
Enjoyed your post - I'm envious of you guys further south who can already enjoy 'first gate' with a shakedown drive in your cars. Although it's shrinking rapidly, I still have a pretty good pile of snow in front of my Packard garage and couldn't even get both big doors open to back it out! Where we are in rural British Columbia, there is no cell service (yes, there ARE still pockets of non-coverage in residential areas up here!) and we therefore don't have cell phones, only hard lines. Being subsequently rather 'out of the loop' on texting abbreviations, I had to Google 'SWMBO' and have to tell you, I got quite a kick out of it!!! (She Who Must Be Obeyed) And, FWIW Jim, eggs are very scarce up here too, for some reason! Chris

Great post. Reminds me of all the years I "lived" in Chicago and New York. Barely existed from one summer to the next, and didn't even own a car then - let alone a Packard. Lovely part of the world where you live now. I remember escaping up there from New York on weekends in rental cars.

Have not heard SWMBO for a long time, but used to follow Rumpole religiously since the lead character was Australian.

A chicken lays an egg every 25 hours, and they dont lay more or less because some virus in humans! I hear that most stores have a 1 gallon of milk policy. My customers in Kansas, new Mexico and Texas have been told to dump 10% of their milk. The milk price for dairymen plummeted by 35% in the last 3 weeks. Milk is also being dumped in the upper midwest. Someone is making a killing on this chaos! Dairyman are being told here that they only can deliver 93% in april of what they produced in March, and they'll only get paid on the 93%! Milk is being dumped in manure pits, and spread on fields as a form of "fertilizer". The chicken/ egg industry is not much better. Let's wake America up on our food production!!!

On the picture: that's 6000 gallon of perfectly good milk per truck!

Yes, there are scumbags in every crisis. Trouble is, when somebody makes a killing somebody else usually loses.

Have you tried buying a surgical mask recently? Hospitals don't have enough of them. They are about a 10c item being sold online by the scumbags for $1.50 each, and quite likely stolen. Wouldn't buy as a matter of principle.

Love the reference to SWMBO. I'm sure it is chiseled in stone somewhere - perhaps on the first wheel.
I had Best Other out several weeks ago, but I doubt our local cruise is going to start at normal time.
