Well I got the Dual Steamer Heater out, not as hard as I thought it would be. Plus following packard1949 postpackardinfo.com/xoops/html/modules/newbb ... flat&order=ASC&type=&mode=0&start=0
Made things a lot easier.
Just took out the three screws from above. (See first photo)
Then went underneath the car and pushed up on the motor, I didn't have to worry about the hoses since there were none.
Next took the screws out of the frame and pulled off the top cover.
The Heater Core looks in pretty good shape.
Last photo shows a couple pieces that go between the core and the top of the frame, maybe to stop any rattles.

While I've got the Dual Steamer Heater removed, I thought I would show a photo of the floor with it removed. Looks like some kinds of thick roofing paper was used.

The 46 fact book is not as eloquent as some of the other years tried to be in describing the floor and roof insulation but Packard marketing would have you know that rather than some kind of thick roofing paper, it is a highly researched and complex scientifically designed covering.

Unfortunately, as we know, if it controlled sound and heat the way they said it did the insulation would truly be a miracle material ahead of its time and Packard could have sold it as a standalone product and made their profit a different way.

Interesting information about the insulation and the use of asphalt. Thanks Howard!

So moving on, fixed up Dual Steamer Heater core to check of leaks and found one. I'll start the repair tomorrow. Hopefully it will be just a little solder job. Now I know why the hoses weren't connected up.
Added a few photos showing the bubbles and also use a little soap.

Well so much for that, tried to repair the leak in the core and then another leak appear in the general location. Tried a couple more times and gave up. Found a repair shop and the guy said he wasn't surprised, because of the way the units are put together. He said that the tops are usually removed as a whole and then cleaned and reinstalled to fix a leak. So I left it with him, should be ready next week.

Okay, I took my Heater Core in and The guy at the shop said he couldn't find a leak and I must have gotten it after all.
So good news there. Put it all back together, got the seat in and took it out for a spin around the neighborhood. Turn Signals all working and the cancel is working. Only thing I did notice was that I can't see the forward turn signal blinking with the parking lights on (Tail Turn Signals flash).
Next I went to check the Backup Light, I'm glad I've been following the blog
packardinfo.com/xoops/html/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=23461&forum=2

"Back-Up Lights on 50 Deluxe", some very helpful information, I didn't think about needing to turn on the lights for the backup light to work. I'm guessing back in the day it wasn't there to warn people you were backing up, just need for when it was dark and to light up the area behind you.
So of course the Backup Light didn't work, Checked at the switch on the column, with lights on I had power on one side in Reverse. Looks like my switch is bad, probably needs a cleaning.
Jumper out the switch still no light. Check wire in trunk going to Backup Light, -6 Volts so far so good. Take apart light check bulb it checks good. work bulb in socket light starts working. So now just need to fix switch, until I notice a metal clip that had fallen out of the Backup Light when I pulled it apart. Any help on where this green clip goes, I've tried a couple different places but nothing looks correct to me.
As always thanks for any and all help!
Wes

No help on the green clip in the Backup Light? Oh well on to the next question. I notice the Clutch Pedal is slapping the floor as it comes all the way back up. Is there not a mechanical stop or is it just that Rubber around the pedal (Boot Pedal) that is suppose to stop the pedal from slapping the underside of the floor?
Thanks!
Wes
