I thought the six was fine, it had plenty of torque to start out in second. the super right is much more so of course

My 1940 110 would spin the tires! It was so smooth and quiet at idle that it was difficult to tell it was running, the take-off was great and it even did well on the highway.

I think our '47 had the same engine. maybe they raised the compression though. The super eight will pin you in the seat, it is a 356 cubic inch after all. We traded for the earlier styling. There's a chunk of time from the mid to late '30s where the 110 six and 120 small eight were newer and therefore better designs than the senior models of the same years.

Interior panels and painting the engine compartment: the back seat armrest were laying in the car when we bought it. ripped and deformed. other panels like the thin piece between the doors broke when I removed it ( those ribbed nail fasteners were not meant for easy removal). If I fixed them with fiberglas they would be too rigid and don't take their permanent shape until they're mounted in place. I used a two part epoxy paint (that can be tinted to any color you choose) for the engine compartment and door jams, it's insanely strong but goes on thick and even when sprayed it has a texture. perfect for an engine compartment and frame suspension pieces. I noticed when leftover pieces dried they formed a hard rubber like puck. I used cloth as fiberglas mat, outdoor plastic signs to replace the sections that were rotted away and tape to hold the form close. I painted multiple coats to stiffen and repair the panels with newspaper and weights to straighten flat panels and it worked out well. the panels are bendable and strong.

Wonderful restoration, perseverance pays off! It looks like most 1940 One-Sixty sedans would have on the street when new. Drive and enjoy it a lot!
