Steve (58L8134), thanks for the link. A car like this huge '41 180 Custom Super formal sedan could be a wonderful start for my next project. But my wife would only support a daily driver. That eliminates prewar cars.

Lots of comments on the AACA website about these cars and the Seller and the prices.

Its worth reading the comments on the AACA site regarding dormant cars advertised for optimistic prices. Both these Packards would be worthwhile projects to revive but both are going to require considerable time, attention and especially money to make them drivable again. Until the seller(s) become realistic, these cars will continue to languish.
A continually maintained drivable old car is worth two in neglected, dormant condition, to paraphrase the old bird-in-the-hand adage. Steve

Good Morning Guscha...I'm wondering regarding the thinking that a Packard as a daily driver from prior to World War II is not a good idea...I would think a Packard from the late 20's or 30's would be pretty reliable...just not a freeway machine. I might be a no-no here, but I drive a 1931 Ford Model 'A' and a 1949 Packard as my daily drivers, most of the time in the cooler months of the year, here in Arizona...they both run well are are reliable rides...all they ask is to be driven...Ernie in Arizona

To pay close attention to expectations of my wife and to attend to her wishes follows a deeper meaning beyond logic. In addition to it I take pleasure in her car favorites. In terms of the car in question, please don't forget that a '41 180 measures almost 20 feet in length. European roads and parking spaces are unable to cope with such giants and their turning radius. Well, when I come to consider it, then I never met someone in your neck of the woods who was using his One-Eighty as a daily driver. Attach file: (54.48 KB)

Good Morning Guscha...I understand! Some years ago we restored a 69 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham and it fit in the garage by one inch! As parking lots in San Clemente, California began to shrink...my wife decided that she wanted a much smaller car...The Cadillac was sold and Dolores purchased a new Ford Escort Wagon...Ernie now in Arizona
