1952, 1953 and 1954 Grille Emblems and Color Scheme LE

I had always thought that the grille emblems were the same for 1952-1954 but I've come to understand from the parts book that there are three different ones. There was one for both 1952 and 1954 and a different one for 1953. How does 1953 differ?

The third was for the 1954 5477 (Pacific) with scheme LE but that scheme is not shown on the paint charts. What color was it and how does this emblem differ?

I think that I've answered my own question about the one for 1954's 5477 and that it was apparently one of the special emblems made for the Amethyst and Carnation Pacifics which I know already had different roof emblems.

Still need to know how 1953's emblem might be different. Could it be that the upper inside was black? I've seen reproductions that way but the company selling them did not know why they were different.

As I recall the background color on the 53 emblem is different. I believe I read somewhere 53 had a dark background instead of the bright red the 52 and 54 emblems used. The color may be mentioned in Neal's 51-4 book but I think I remember reading it was very dark almost black.

Thank you, Howard. That's what it appears to me too. Looking at a reproduction that was listed for 1952-1954, then seeing a separate one by the same company with the back background, is what prompted the question.

The 1953 Emblem has black color on the background. The 1954 Pacific has Amethyst color. Only a handful were made. The Packard proving grounds has one of the cars.

Is that the Jack and Merna Holmes car? I knew it and them well and knew it had been donated but wasn't sure where. Are there any good photos of the emblem? I have many photos of their car but I never thought to take any of the special emblems!

Also, for 1953, did the same black background apply to the trunk emblem?
