Hello I bought a Hood Pad for my 56 Packard 400 from Dwight. I installed using
3m Super 77 Multipurpose spray adhesive.
Sprayed both sides the pad and the hood it keeps dropping down after dried. Please I need help going to a show tomorrow and want this to adhere. Any suggestions or products that work... Thanks Guys

Gary

I've used that product on my Audi for a hood pad and it worked fine, though I did have it off the car and let gravity work with me... probably not an option for your timeline.

How is it failing? Is adhesive left on the underside of the hood? i.e. you didn't apply right: too much, too little, didn't wait until is was tacky before application. Or is it pulling clean from the hood? i.e. you have oily residue on the underside. If you ran the car awhile without I can see how some oily vapors ended up there and require a good cleaning. I think 3M also makes a surface prep.

Good luck!

Mike

Thanks for your reponse. Also messy product to put on the pad while the hood is attached. I just remembered a while back I used liquid nails and it was no problem... Thanks Gary

Sorry you are having problems. I would guess that the underside of the hood was not cleaned properly which is why the 3M adhesive won't stick. Dwight Heinmuller
P.S. Why did you not contact me about this?
