Bigkev has been so kind to -> improve the dealership section today. A suitable trigger signal to look for the dealership from Mr. Moody, who held the fort in Shanghai, nine decades ago.
With view to the barbed wire fence (see first pic below) "held the fort" is to be taken literally. images source: Virtual Cities Project (Institut d’Asie Orientale) at virtualshanghai.net Take note, please, of the terms of use. BDC, many thanks for the friendly words. The dealership was located at a busy crossroad, which facilitates the search for images.
The first photograph seems to be the oldest of the three below. Someone started to retouch it. The second and third showing outdated trucks (their hoods make me believe that they are French Renaults) with hard rubber tires and cast iron spoke wheels in front of the dealership. Rickshaws on the left. The Packard lettering is mounted on the roof of the building. The last photograph is marked with "Shanghai, a busy intersection. Note stone slabs placed in macadam for use of wheel barrow traffic". images source: Virtual Cities Project (Institut d’Asie Orientale) #1 -> virtualshanghai.net #2 -> virtualshanghai.net #3 -> virtualshanghai.net Take note, please, of the terms of use. Two years ago I tried to determine when Moody had to quit the field. The below shown invoice dated Aug 31, 1951 for storing a Ford for one month seems to confirm that at least parts of his business survived that what was later called the Shanghai Campaign in 1949.
The year the invoice was made out was the same year when Mao started so-called Anti Campaigns. Wikipedia says: "Up to 15,000 trained propagandists were working in Shanghai by late 1951. By February 1952, parades of anti-Capitalist activists went door-to-door to visit business leaders..." A handwritten receipt, titled with "...FED, Inc., U.S.A." but presented in China in 1951 looks strange, doesn't it? image source: kongfz.com Click to enlarge! Attach file: invoice.jpg (84.49 KB)

The clean design of the repair shop makes me believe, that we're back in China at Mr. Moody's car palace. The caption reads: " A vehicle is ready for repair at a Packard dealership service department in Shanghai."

Spencer (Spencer B.), thanks, very kind of you. I enjoyed the images of your beautiful Eight Runabout, which don't hide a lucky driver.
The next picture from the Mark L. Moody collection shows only a part of the original photograph. I used a scissors to spare you the historical truth of an image, taken in wartimes. Better not to follow this link. image source: East-Asian Library Click to enlarge!

"...deliveries can be made at any place in the United Staates..."
He was definitely business-minded, our Mark Moody. Although he even gives two addresses, neither of them shows that the dealership's headquarter is in China. This ad gives the impression that he ordered in Shanghai, but delivered the cars in the USA and pocketed the savings in transport costs. If my hypothesis is correct, he will have quickly gotten into trouble with the top dogs in whose sales area he poached. image source: thepaper.cn Click to enlarge!
