i am going to replace my brittle old leaf spring and shakle bushings. As i have no car lift, only jack and jack stands i wonder if this is a job that can be done this way. Or if there are usually always serious complications that actually require working powerfully upright under the car? So what do you think, should i not even start this without a lift?

It shouldn’t be too difficult without a lift but you will need a good jack and stands to support the rear end once you’ve jacked up the car itself and placed it on stands so you’ll need at least four stands. I’ve replaced leaf springs this way and even complete rear ends.
