It looks to have a 'Deluxe' script on the driver's side fender, and a 'Super' script on the passenger side fender. Double hmmm

Fortunately the Deluxe and Super fender scripts use the same holes, or at least the Deluxe and Custom do so I am presuming that the same is true with Super.

The CL ad for the '47 shows no interior pics at all.......wanna guess why? Don't think Wat will be interested in this one, since Fred turns her nose up at 6-cylinders.

The '38 sedan is priced that high because it has the rare experimental "aluminum engine" in it that was installed in that car by mistake.

The '40 is gorgeous!

I showed Fred the ad, and she did turn up her pretty little nose. My guesses for no interior pictures: 1 - the dash is all over that blanket. 2 - there is lots of daylight coming in where the A-pillar floors used to be. 3 - someone had best know a decent upholsterer and a source of cloth, or where the Mexican blanket store is.

Fred does like coupes, however, but she's more . . . discerning, shall we say. ;)

Regarding the '38 and the "asking for" price: One fried used to call that "wishin-n-hopin'." And another used to say, "wish in one hand and $#!t in the other and see which fills first." And I thought the experimental aluminum block was in 8 form only . . . .

If you're not having fun, maybe it's your own damned fault.

Never heard about Packard using an experimental aluminum block. Could those who know about this please share with the rest of us - in a separate posting in the pre-war section. Thanks.

The comments around the aluminum engine are tongue-in-cheek due to the 1938’s super-high price.

I think it was more outright sarcasm.

There are some ornery people here.

I think it might have an aluminum head and the seller has no clue what he's talking about.

Read the Craigslist ad for the '38 and I think you will understand.

I've seen this 1955 Patrician sitting behind a fence at a local salvage yard for the last 10 years (always telling myself that I would stop in and check it out). Today I noticed the Packard sitting outside the fence, so no reason not to stop.
What I found very interesting (as I know hardly anything about postwar Packards) the tag on the front seat with "Body by Packard).
If someone is interested in it, I can get more/better pictures.
