Not clear what help you need as you’ve ready identified it. Just paste the casting number into the Part Number field of the Packard Parts List from the menu to the left. It will show all the years and models using that same casting. Of course, there may be internal differences but can’t hep you there.

Thanks, I'm a little new to Packard and because I have a 327-ci in my '52 I didn't know if the transmission was from another year. Thanks for the info, now all I have to do is find parts.

There might be a casting date on it somewhere but it really doesn’t matter as long as it fits and works! Any differences would be in internal details which were typically improvement-type things.
On the two photos below, both use the same casting number for the main transmission housing but the one with the long rear extension is 1951-1954 passenger car while the other shorter one is R11 from 1950 or from 1951-1954 commercial chassis and has a much shorter overdrive unit without the extension tube. All 51-54 overdrive trans will fit with no problems. You would be far better off advertising for a complete unit as yours has significant damage. I'm guessing you could have 5 or 6 by the end of the week. I'm 7000 miles from home just now but am pretty sure I have one spare. Can check when I am home early March.

Thanks for the response! I'm a little apprehensive about staying with the manual with overdrive. my car was converted to 12v so the OD was disconnected. I don't know if it even works, the governor has no running gear, and the solenoid was bypassed with a switch, which hasn't worked sense I bought the car. I was told to pull the overdrive out when driving to make it safer to drive. that's when she blew, a few down shifts and BAM! what's to stop the next one from doing the same? I really don't want to go through this again! I know there are expensive kits to convert to 12v, but are these transmissions reliable?

Packard's manual transmissions are quite rugged and very reliable unless abused.

You can gt a 12v solenoid for it or, better yet, convert it back to 6v positive ground! Either way, new solenoids are readily available.

Here's Ross with a 3-on-the-tree 1953 Packard Clipper (turned into a pickup truck)
(and a couple of Studebakers, too) Speedwell Garage 3-on-the-tree Coming up (maybe, someday) is promised a video where he talks about how to use the overdrive. But here is another video from someone with a 1948 with overdrive Overdrive 1948 Packard and a nice breakdown of the R11 Overdrive R10/R11 Overdrive

A big thanks to everyone for your help! It took me a while, but I found all the group and part numbers I needed, it's all in the great documentation on this site! Just have to read and look around!
Thanks again, Mike
