Back in the 70s. My dad had the pack 12 valves built up with stellite. And reground.
The 80s. He bought stainless valves. My input is what's more cost effective.. New v. Welded and ground. Welded you keep the Packard script.

Jack, when the time comes I’ll likely have you do the rebuild on my 1956 Custom Clipper’s engine but I have NOS valves for it which seemed easy to find. Not sure if they’re the best for modern petrol but they will do nicely unless you do make something better! I also have a set of intake valves from Terrill.
