Having worked on Packards all my life, this is something I prefer to leave to the professionals! It’s not an easy task no matter how one tries although having the special tools that the Packard shops had in the day may help.

G'day Wyatt Hanson,
to PackardInfo. But sorry I can't offer any advice. Instead I invite you to include your '56 Executive in the Packard Vehicle Registry.

Cut a bar to fit between forks.
This keeps them from bending. Then you need to press them out. You need cups...a big socket... and other accessories. To press bushing into. And another to press it in.

I actually got them out using a upper bushing tool that was made for Gm, Ford and Chrysler I guess the radius was just right to be able to use that tool. It was fairly easy to get them out but I have a feeling pressing the new ones in is gonna be a little bit trickier.
