Been too long to remember clearly, but isn't there a stampled steel locking plate behind the nut with a tab or ear folded upwards against one of the nut flats to retain it? IIRC, then it's bend the tab back, remove the nut, then pull the gear.

No pins. The gears are keyed and quite tight, often requiring a gear puller to get them off. As Dave (Owen_Dyneto) said, there is a locking plate with ears to be flattened too.

Oh, I see now. The thing I thought was a pin was the ear I need to bend back. Thank you for all y’all’s help and I’ll let ya know how it goes
