Correct Mounting of a 1941 120 Fan Blade

Greetings All,

I had to replace the water pump and would like to know if the fan blade, I repainted, has to be mounted with a specific side facing the radiator or if it matters?

One side has a "peak" down the middle of the blade and the other side has a "valley".

Thanks
Gene

You want the blade positioned so when it turns the air is being blown backwards toward the engine. Mounted on the pump, the sort of hollow or concave face of the blade will be toward the engine. The leading edge is near the radiator and bites into the air and curves it until the trailing edge can force it toward the engine. If you mount incorrectly, it will try to blow air forward against the airstream.

Thanks, mine was mounted with the convex side to the radiator. Must have happened a bunch of years back when the engine was rebuilt and a new water pump was installed.

Hopefully this will take care of the overheating.
