We got the hood and trunk in place this week. It feels good to have that done.
I figured out the problem with the stainless on the rear windshield. You can see from the image below that the trim does not come down far enough to be under the lower trim as it should. That means the groove in the seal stops too short. I will just trim off that access metal as I described before. I am looking for the trim clips that go on the backside of all the trim pieces to hold them in place. Does anyone have a simplified list of the sizes and totals need for a 400? I got the upper, rear windshield trim installed today. I trimmed the two end pieces as shown and had no problems. Keeping it in place while installing the glass should be fun. You can see below that that the lower trim now covers the ends.
I asked last night about those rectangular flat nuts for the trim and then realized that Howard provided a few of the sizes on this blog about a year ago. I found what I needed on amazon and saved $20 on shipping as compared to McMasters and Carr. Stewart
Do the 55 use these. Top is rectangle with a nut. These are from a 1956 patrician.

Flat nut below. They seem to have multiple names; speed nut, flat nut, push nut, take your pick.

The solid metal rectangles with a welded on stud that goes thru the weatherstrip and has a nut inside the car is used on the belt molding below the glass on most 51-56 models. In 56 they were also used on some models and moldings above the glass and on sides.

I have no idea how these are measured. Need to order some but everything I see seems to be too small.

You can go to Restoration Specialties and download their pdf catalog. Find the wire clips section and print out the page(s) making sure the actual size setting or 100 percent is selected on your printer settings. You can then lay your old clips on their illustrations and find whatever they have that is closest.
Some of the wire clip sizes Packard used are obsolete but others can sometimes be used by turning them sideways. The second one you show is a universal stud type and should be readily available. As long as you can get to the back side and reach the nut it can often be substituted for the push in wire clips.restorationspecialties.com

Stewart I actually ran into this a few days ago on my car. These clips will work for most on a 55
ebay.com/itm/192791599531 If you look around their store you will find the other style you need too.
